Rams News: L.A. Releases 15 Players Including Former First Rounder Quinton Coples

With the regular season approaching, the time has come for the Los Angeles Rams to begin trimming their roster. By 1 PM ET on Tuesday all teams had to cut their rosters down to 75 people which meant a lot of pink slips were handed out.

The Rams officially announced that they had released 15 players. Among those 15 was former 2012 first round draft pick of the New York Jets, Quinton Coples:

In addition to the releases, the Rams also announced that tackle Rob Havenstein has been taken off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) List.

Overall the list doesn’t really include any surprises outside of Coples. The former first rounder was certainly no guarantee to make the final cut, but with the final roster not needing to go down to 53 players until Saturday, with one more preseason game before then, many believed he would at least get one more look.

Now things will turn to the Rams’ final preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night. While the starters won’t see the field much, if at all, it will be the final chance for many players battling for a roster spot to show the coaches what they can do.

The final days are upon us and soon we will know the official roster for the Rams’ first year back in Los Angeles.
